Student Support Services

Since 1991, the American School of Tegucigalpa has provided specialized support for K-12 students who require additional academic assistance.  In 2010, Student Enrichment Programs were created to support students who demonstrate advanced abilities in English Language Arts and/or Mathematics.

Student Services Program

The Student Services Program is designed to help eligible students access the curriculum, develop essential learning skills, and achieve greater academic independence. Students must meet specific eligibility criteria in order to receive services.

The Program Provides:

Instructional Accommodations

tailored to each student’s individual learning needs.

Direct Support

n developing organizational and study skills, fostering independence and academic success.

Ongoing Collaboration

with parents, classroom teachers, administrators, counselors, and outside professionals to monitor progress across the curriculum

Individualized Education Plan (IEP)

developed based on the student’s current levels of performance and reviewed and revised periodically to reflect growth and evolving needs

Enrichment Program

The Enrichment Program is designed to support students from Elementary through High School who demonstrate advanced abilities in English Language Arts and/or Mathematics. This program provides opportunities for students to extend their learning beyond grade-level expectations through enriched instruction, critical thinking, and deeper exploration of concepts.Students in the Enrichment Program engage in activities and coursework that promote higher-order thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and academic challenge.

Instruction is tailored to students’ demonstrated strengths and encourages intellectual curiosity while supporting continued growth and balanced development.Placement in the Enrichment Program is based on a review of multiple criteria, which may include academic performance, classroom assessments, standardized test data, and teacher recommendations. The program works in collaboration with classroom teachers, administrators, and families to ensure that enrichment services complement the core curriculum and meet each student’s academic needs.
