On behalf of the faculty and staff of the American School of Tegucigalpa’s High School, I am pleased to introduce you to our campus, a welcoming and safe place where secondary students are challenged to explore, question, discover, and apply their findings en route to higher education.

AST High School serves a population of approximately 300 students and has a long history of excellence in academics, allowing students to fulfill requirements for up to three different diplomas: the American High School, the Honduran Baccalaureate, and the International Baccalaureate. True to our school mission, one hundred percent of our students are college-bound.  Many of them gaining admittance to prestigious universities in the United States of America, Canada, Mexico, Spain, Honduras, and other South American and European countries.

Our High School is proud of its extensive extracurricular program which includes a wide range of clubs, competitive sports, an award winning band, and academic teams. Students belong to a series of social service clubs such as Bencaleth (a home for children and young adults affected by cerebral palsy), Voces de Esperanza, and FUNHOCAM, Creciendo con Diabetes, and much more. In addition, students are active in debate, both within the Association of American Schools of Central America (AASCA) and beyond in international conferences.  The Math Olympic teams which provide a home to students who show love and skill for the discipline, and for the ones that enjoy knowledge in general there are the Varsity and Junior Varsity Knowledge Bowl teams. We also have an emergent Robotics team that recently competed in South Africa via First Lego League (FLL). The arts are encouraged after hours through a junior and senior honor society as well as within the curriculum. Musical courses are present in the lower grades of high school but the Honor Band continues for students who have a love for instruments. Our school even has an incredible Rock Band of inclined students. Other student-run clubs dealing with subjects such as the preservation of the environment and experimental Science have large followings. The sports program which is run by the Athletics department is similarly popular.  Our athletes in varsity and junior varsity teams represent AST successfully at the National (American Bilingual Schools of Honduras) and International (AASCA) level achieving the top positions among other schools in the region.
