A Message from the Middle School Principal
And Important Dates to Remember for August 2010

Now that we have come to the time of the year wherein there is an opportunity to reflect on the happenings of the year, one word comes to mind and the word is “change.”

To students of Grade 6, just think of the major changes which took place between August and now as you made your adjustment to the middle school environment.  You are to be commended on the rather smooth transition which took place.  A place that was once foreign and intimidating is now quite familiar.
To students of Grade 7, two years ago you were also in quite a bit of awe of this place they call the middle school. This year it is hoped that you made the necessary changes to survive the awkward position of being in the middle.  No doubt, you have figured out by now that being in the middle has given you an opportunity to improve your role as a student in the middle school environment.  As you enter grade 8, keep in mind what your goal should be:  to be at the peak of your academic performance.

To students of Grade 8, you are considered the “Seniors” of the middle school and by now you must have come to realize that with such a status comes a great deal of responsibility to yourself and to those underclassmen who have been observing you to know how to handle the final year of middle school.  Your changes this year hopefully have had to do with the inner changes you were willing to make to prepare yourself for that which is about to take place in your lives forty months from now: college/university studies.  As quiet as it is kept, the middle school years have a lot to do with the work ethic and scholastic approach you will use in those forty months.  Here’s hoping you are ready to “hit the ground running” in August.

To the middle school parents and staff, you too have had to deal with changes this year as you have adjusted to yet another style of administration.  I will now take this opportunity to repeat what I said at the beginning of the year to those who often questioned me about my transition from high school administration to that of the middle school.  I said it then and I will say it again, “I have been blessed to be able to work with a staff whose work ethic is to be the best professionals they can be to the stakeholders in a private school setting.”  These stakeholders can be quite demanding and without a doubt you have met their demands and can come to closure with this school year with a sense of accomplishment.

I leave you all with a quotation regarding change:

“Any change, even a change for the better, is always accompanied by drawbacks and discomforts.”
